Medical Services

Pregnancy Testing

At Choices, we offer confidential, lab-quality pregnancy testing at no cost to our clients. However, our clients receive much more than just a test and a result!

Each client meets with an advocate who takes the time to get to know them and assess their particular situation and needs. The advocate also presents the options of parenting, adoption, and abortion: allowing time for the client to ask questions and feel truly informed and empowered in her choice. If her test is positive, our nurse or other medical professional will check vitals and discuss prenatal vitamins if needed, discuss sexual health and set up an STI testing appointment, as well as start a WIC application if desired. Her client advocate will also put together a packet of information and resources customized to meet her unique needs. Depending on how far along the client is in her pregnancy, an obstetrical ultrasound may be scheduled.

Limited Obstetrics Ultrasound

Depending on how far along a pregnancy is, our clients are offered a limited obstetric ultrasound at no cost to them. Being able to see their baby on the screen is often the first real connection that our clients feel to their baby. Many decisions for life are made after an ultrasound at our clinic.

Each ultrasound appointment has a pre and post appointment meeting with the client’s advocate to further discuss how they are feeling regarding pregnancy and address any concerns that the client may have. The father of the baby, family member, or friend is welcome to be included in the ultrasound appointment if desired.

STD Testing and Treatment

We offer confidential and cost free STD testing and treatment for both male and female clients. We currently test for Gonorrhea, Syphilis, HIV, and Chlamydia. In addition to testing, each client meets with our nurse or medical professional to assess their health and unique concerns. Sexual health education is also provided at each appointment. Additional resources, appointments, and education are available as desired.

Support Services

Confidential Counseling for Men and Women

Whether it is in regards to pregnancy, sexual health, or forming healthy relationships, men and women can make an appointment for confidential, cost-free counseling. Each person is treated with care and respect while addressing their concerns.

Referrals

Our staff keeps up-to-date with all available community resources. We are able to provide referrals for WIC, adoption, legal assistance, housing assistance, financial assistance and more.

Material Assistance

We can offer new moms assistance with diapers, wipes, clothing, and many other material needs as they arise.

Spiritual Counsel

At Choices, we care about the physical, emotional, and spiritual needs of all clients. Each client is asked about their spiritual background and permission is asked to share more. This appointment may be where a relationship with Christ begins or is rekindled. Our staff will meet and counsel clients who are just starting out in their relationship with Christ or those who want to grow their relationship as desired. We also seek to connect them with churches in their local area.

Mobile Clinic

Why GO Mobile with Medical Ministry?

Because we realize that it is not always possible or convenient for our clients to come to one of our clinics, we have partnered with ICU Mobile, becoming the pioneer of mobile medical services in Pittsburgh since 2010.
In 2017 we added a second mobile clinic serving the Beaver County area. These modern, state-of-the-art, mobile medical clinics can be found at numerous locations around the greater Pittsburgh area and several locations in Beaver County, providing pregnancy testing, counseling, and ultrasound services to confirm pregnancy. All services are available at no charge to our clients.

Going Mobile Widens Our Influence

Our mobile ministry can help women make an informed decision at locations such as:

The mall or neighborhood park
A college campus
The door of an abortion facility
Entertainment areas

We have been able to determine through a zip code algorithm exactly where women are coming from who are having abortions. This is amazing, and because we are not a traditional “brick and mortar” center, we are able to GO to where these women are! Because we can GO, we have actually gone to women who were not able to come to one of our centers and meet her in a convenient safe place near their homes!
